The wonderful world we live in has so much to offer. In our everyday lives, who knew it could offer such amazing sights from all over the place. In the age of smartphones, we can capture and share some of the most eyebrow-raising images like never before. Photoshop has caused us to question what is real and what is fake in the pictures we find, but the truth is often stranger than fiction.
Seeing what one person did in Antarctica definitely makes it a top travel destination.
Look Out Below!
It might not be a great photo for people who are afraid of heights, but it’s still cool to look at. This was actually taken from the 88th floor of the atrium at the Hyatt Shanghai hotel. The hotel is a five-star, 555-room that’s a tenant in the Jin Mao Tower.
Two Bullets That Collided
What are the odds of this happening? These bullets collided midair during the Battle of Gallipoli during WWI. Bullets do collide, but it’s pretty rare to find something like this perfectly intact. If you take a closer look, the left bullet doesn’t have any rifling on it, whereas the bullet on the right does.
Who’s A Wood Boy?
His bark is worse than his bite. This is one realistic German Sheppard, made from an entire tree stump. At least the dog didn’t suffer the same fate as Pinocchio. This is definitely a 10/10 good boy. If you think that’s cool, wait until you see a cat with two different eye colors!
Spherical Clouds Are Amazing
Bizarre photos were coming out of Japan as people didn’t know what to think about these circular clouds. While the photo was shot at Shonandai station, some have suggested that the spherical cloud is actually a roll cloud, which is a rare type of low, horizontal cloud formation that appears as a result of cold fronts, which are associated with thunderstorms.
Stunt Doubles
I don’t think I remember this episode. Actually, it’s a photo of the stunt doubles from Game of Thrones. Khaleesi’s stunt double looks almost identical to Emilia Clarke and it’s appropriate to see Tyrion’s stunt double hacking a dart. I think we’re ready for a spinoff!
These Eyes Though
These cats are often referred to as odd-eye cats. It’s a form of complete heterochromia, which affects white cats more than any other kind. This isn’t just a trait in cats though, as humans can also carry the two colored eye gene. Two colored cats are one thing, but birds who levitate is a whole different story.
Cotton Picker Concert
A cotton picker on a farm at night looks exactly like a concert. It even fooled me when I saw this photo, so let’s have some fun with it, shall we? Concertgoers are about to get hit with some heavy metal. Maybe they’re about to rage against the machine too.
Visible From The Human Eye
This is the area where stars that are visible from Earth compared to the entire Milky Way galaxy. All the stars in the photo that are noticeable to the naked eye are highlighted in blue. As you can see, there’s plenty that most of us will probably never see in our lifetime.
Levitating Cardinal
Now, this is a perfectly timed photo! The cardinal is floating in mid-air, but we’ll just assume it’s levitation. He either has incredible hops, or has the mental capacity to float when food is in play. The animal kingdom is a regular place for these types of photos, and squirrels have kind of mastered the art of the perfectly timed picture.
Hot Water In The Antarctic
My friends and I actually tried something like this with a pot of boiling hot water. The unique thing about hot water and the cold air is that the water freezes instantly and comes down like snow. Be careful if you try this and make sure it’s actually cold so you don’t burn yourself!
Back In The USSR
This abandoned space shuttle from the scrapped Soviet “Buran” space shuttle program looks pretty creepy. The program was canceled in 1993 after the collapse of the Soviet Union and it’s been sitting there ever since. Only one unmanned orbital flight was ever completed and now, everything has gone to rust or dust.
Touchdown!
This is a hilarious photo of two squirrels who appear to be playing football. For the most part, squirrels like to take it easy during the winter and apparently after the Super Bowl is over. It’s a good thing they brought back touchdown celebrations. If you’re looking for something more relaxing, this lizard has you covered!
Rocket Man Burning Out His Fuse Up Here Alone
Austrian skydiver Felix Baumgartner attempted the highest skydive to date. Baumgartner flew 39 kilometers into the stratosphere over New Mexico before taking the ultimate leap. Free falling from a parachute in a pressure suit, the Austrian broke the sound barrier on his descent, becoming the first human to do so without any form of engine power.
Under The Sea
The Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan in Japan is one of the largest public aquariums in the world. The walk-through aquarium is home to 27 tanks of marine life in several different habitats. With a variety of fish including manta rays and a whale shark, the habitats are from the Ring of Fire area of the Pacific Ocean.
Rango Playing Guitar
It’s a once in a lifetime photo that any traveler would love to add to their Instagram. The lizard looks like it’s having the time of its life. Look how relaxed the green reptile looks as he’s requested to play Wonderwall for the 82nd time. Let’s crank things up a bit with a flying sheep straight from yourdreams.
A Sculpture That’s Not Photoshopped
No, the sculpture is not photoshopped, it’s a real one all the way in New Zealand. Sculptor Neil Dawson created Horizons in 1994. This eye-popping sculpture will make your eyes and brain trick you into believing that what you’re looking at is a drawing from a cartoon. How cool is that?
Up There Near The Seventh Wonder Of The World
Tourists waited until the official visiting hours were over at Egypt’s iconic Giza Necropolis before starting their climb. Somehow, they escaped security’s attention at the ancient site, and were able to snap photos like the one above. It’s great to see tourists take illegal action just so they can get a photo of one of the seven wonders of the world.
SuperSheep
It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s Supersheep! This sheep got some serious airtime, and no fence can contain him. It’s pretty similar to Michael Jordan’s air dunk, but with a farm animal instead. This is the same feeling you get when your boss lets you leave early on a Friday.
Falling Down The Well
If we learned anything from Bart Simpson, it’s to stay clear of wells. He wouldn’t want to fall into this particular well, which is in the gardens of the Quinta Da Regaleria in Sintra, Portugal. From the looks of it, it wasn’t even used for water and instead, it was used for ceremonial purposes.
Jack And Jill Went Down The Hill
This is what happens when you roll down a hill and take a panoramic photo. It looks like the world is in a bottle, kind of like those ships made in a bottle. This is the view Jack and Jill probably got when the stumbled down the hill to catch a pail of water.
