Vitamix vs. Blendtec

December 4, 2015

Battle of the blenders continues and there are two blenders that have made it to the finale: Vitamix, which has earned a name for performance and quality, and Blendtec, which has a reputation for high horsepower. So, which of these two is the top blender?

Vitamix vs. Blendtec Which Is Better ?

vitamix or blendtec comparison what you should know before you buy them.

Horsepower

When it comes to horsepower, the Blendtec blender wins, but this doesn’t mean that Vitamix is any less qualified. Blendtec blenders feature a 3 peak horsepower, thanks to the 1560-watt motor that drives its blade at a maximum speed of 300 mph. On the other hand, the Vitamix 5200 boasts a 2 peak horsepower that gives its blade a maximum speed of 240 mph.

When the horsepower translates into the excellence or creaminess of a smoothie, you would find it hard to tell the difference. Horsepower is actually a marketing tactic used by manufacturers to create buzz.  My personally own a Vitamix 6300 that is about 2 yrs old and I love it.

Warranty

Both Vitamix and Blendtec blenders come with 7 years warranty. You can increase the warranty for Vitamix blenders for 3 years at an additional $75 at purchase. You may also want to check your local Costco at times they have promos that offers life time warranty.  If you aren’t sure get it from Amazon. They have no question asked return policy.

Sturdiness

The competition is tough here. Both companies produce sturdy, high-end blenders that can deliver great performance in the kitchen. Both blenders are way ahead of cheap blenders available at departmental stores. Both blenders are highly reliable, durable and perfectly designed.

Boasting break-resistant copolyester pitchers, high-grade stainless steel blades and durable base, the blenders from Vitamix and Blendtec would delight you with their performance.  Base is easy to clean and you can say they are made with solid plastic. They flasks are dishwasher friendly. Unlike other blenders they are easy to clean.

Size

Vitamix loses on size. Blendtec blenders are shorter, meaning that they can easily fit in your kitchen cabinets or other small spaces. Vitamix is taller, so it will require you to make more space for it in your kitchen. And it may not easily fit inside your kitchen cabinets. This is one of the most common complains about Vitamix. Now they do offer shorter pitchers , but I don’t think I should be paying extra for it :).

Pitcher

Both companies produce blenders featuring a 64-ounce pitcher. However, Vitamix also separately sells pitchers of 32 ounces and 48 ounces.

Technology

Vitamix uses a switch and dial technology to provide you simple, full manual control of your blending experience. On the other hand, Blendtec uses a button-less, digital touch user interface. Some Blendtec commercial users (offices ) have complained the touch interface can break if 10 to 20 people using them daily.

Price

Both blenders are high-end and expensive. Blendtec basic blender with 64-ounce pitcher is priced at $454.95 while Vitamix’s basic package starts at $449.

Conclusion

Both blenders are superior. Whether you choose Vitamix or Blendtec, you will not be disappointed.
